MORECAMBE Hoops reached ther final of the Adam and Gaskell Senior Challenge Cup after a late goal saw off the challenge of Squires.
Squires, from Division Four, were not overawed by Division One Hoops and Neil Thompson put them in front inside 10 minutes.

But Hoops have had a great season so far and fought back to equalise then take the lead.

Squires showed they were up for a fight, levelling with another good goal, this time from Josh Brockbank.

Squires thought they had scored a dramatic injury-time winner when they had a shot kicked off the line. But the ball was cleared by Hoops and they raced away to score the winner.

Storeys beat Highgrove 5-2 to reach the Sam Price Memorial Cup final with sub Martyn Lewis scoring a hat-trick.

The first half hour was very tense with both sides missing good chances before Storeys went in front, Dean Hough firing in from the edge of the box.

Highgrove turned the game on its head either side of the break with goals from Luke Ogley and the impressive Carl Pickles.

But Storeys produced a stunning last 10 minutes, scoring four times.

Lewis strolled in the second as Highgrove appealed for offside, Gary McGonnall forced the ball over the line for 3-2, Lewis squeezed in the fourth from a tight angle and he completed his hat-trick to set up a final against Carnforth Rangers next Monday at 7.30pm.

In the Premier Division, Swarthmoor SC looked set for one of the shocks of the season when they led Marsh United 1-0 with Graham Wilcox scoring.

As Marsh trailed with just 14 minutes remaining, they introduced three young substitutes and they changed the game as Marsh scored four times through Simon Marshall (2) and Lee Fox (2).

Marsh now lead Storeys by four points with three games left.

Bottom team Slyne-with-Hest (LCC) just kept alive its faint chance of avoiding relegation when they surprisingly beat Ingleton 2-1.

Slyne outplayed the strong Ingleton side in the first half and led at the break 2-0 thanks to Grant Perkins and Paul Gill.

Ingleton replied after the break through Curtis Wood.

Galgate were involved in a very good game against Kirkby Lonsdale, ending 2-2.

First blood went to Galgate when Paul Gibson put the ball into his own net only for Matthew Longden to score a cracking equaliser.

The second half had the same pattern as the first, Charles Andrew putting Galgate ahead only for Longden to level again.

None of the top five in Division One were in league action while sixth-placed Boys Club lost 2-1 at Cartmel Reserves.

An Alastair Daggart header and a Brian Lowrie goal came either side of Liam Parkinson's strike for Boys Club.

Morecambe Royals Reserves travelled to Grange and flew out of the blocks with goals from Gary O'Keeffe and Aidan Dunphy.

But Grange rallied with two goals from Matthew Dean only for Royals to nick a winner through Chris Morrow.

Vine crashed to their heaviest defeat since joining the league, 8-1 to a rampant Marsh United Reserves side that are now safe from relegation.

Craig Gribbin scored four well-worked goals while Lee Sparks was a thorn in Vine's side all day and scored twice, brother Scott scored once, as did Ben Simm. Vine's only reply was by Sean Gordon.

Ingleton Reserves won 3-1 against a young Slyne-with-Hest (LCC) A side, Duncan Sullivan (2) and Alex Hartley on target. Slyne are in serious relegation trouble but scored through Matthew Gramosell.

College AFC did their chances of avoiding relegation a power of good with a 2-0 win over Westgate Wanderers thanks to an Andy Eccles penalty and a Paul Fairclough strike.

Westgate never stopped trying but look doomed to be relegated.
The promotion race in Division Two appears to be between three teams.

Bowerham are 12 points clear of third-placed Highgrove Reserves after a battling 2-1 win at Kirkby Lonsdale Reserves with two good Joe Bouskill goals.

Bolton-le-Sands kept alive their hopes of promotion with a hard-earned 2-1 over Arnside, Mark Smith scoring twice and Joe Taylor for Arnside who have never reached their potential.

Morecambe Cricket Club have faint hopes of going up and had to work hard to beat a relegated Burton Thistle side.

Paul Woodhouse and Graeme Cassidy put MCC 2-0 up only for Chris Plevey and Ian Atkinson to level. MCC boss John Cassidy came on to join Alan Hughes to make a 92-year-old strikeforce – and it worked as Hughes scored the winner.

Highgrove Reserves are favourites to clinch second after a 6-0 win over Middleton.

Jamie Lothian and Peter Myerscough both scored twice with Danny Lofthouse and Peter Myerscough also on target.

Furness Rovers struggled against Torrisholme Reserves, a team they had beaten 11-1 only a few weeks ago.

Furness deservedly lost 3-2, their goals from Joe Leslie and Will Lowe being cancelled out by William Swan-Bell, Toby O'Neil and late on by Robert O'Brien. The win kept alive Torrisholme's hopes of avoiding relegation.

Freehold Fc travelled to Caton United Reserves hoping to carry on unbeaten run in 2008.

Chances went begging before Richard Chambers put Freehold in front only for Jeremy Richards to equalise.

Gary Davis put Freehold back in front and Jimmy Watters made the game safe late on.

In Division Three, the battle for promotion is still ongoing.

Bolton-le-Sands Reserves will be promoted – providing their first team are also promoted from Division Two – after beating Carnforth Rangers Reserves 2-0, goals coming from Edward Best and Dave Pidcock.

Arnside Reserves finished their season with an excellent 4-1 win over Allithwaite Rangers. Alan Stribling scored a rare goal with James Kirkham and Matthew Smith (2) the others.

Boys Club Reserves also finished out of a promotion place after being well up the table. They could only draw 0-0 with Galgate Reserves.

Halton Rangers Reserves went back to the top of Division Four table after a resounding 5-0 win over Gregson Reserves.

Halton led 4-0 at the break before Gregson rallied but couldn't stop a fifth for Halton.

Halton still need two wins from their last three games against Bentham Reserves, Burton Thistle Reserves and Ingleton'A' to make sure of winning the championship.

Squires are just one point behind in second place.

Bentham Reserves had an excellent win over Moghuls.

Moghuls probably had the better chances but Bentham took their chances through Daniel Jackson and Gary Louth.

* STEVE Creed scored twice for Storeys Reserves as they beat Halton Rangers 3-1 in the Holdens Solicitors Gibson Challenge Cup at Giant Axe on Monday night.

Creed set up Mark Chisholme for the first Storeys goal on 22 minutes and then he won and scored a penalty on 28 minutes to make it 2-0 at the break.

Creed was on target in the 85th minute before Liam Jeffrey scored a consolation for Halton as full-time approached.
