A PERFORMANCE that manager Barrie Stimpson rated as his side's best so far saw Lancaster City win 2-0 at Warrington Town.
City maintained their good away form with goals from Paul Haddow and Mark Jackson and a welcome clean sheet.
Haddow – stan
d-in skipper for the unwell Michael Stringfellow – put City ahead on 21 minutes when his attempted acrobatic scissor-kick bounced sharply into the turf and looped into the top corner.
Man of the match Lee Dodgson, who put in a lively display down the left, very nearly doubled the lead in spectacular fashion. He skipped past two defenders and smashed a shot towards goal to see the keeper push it on to the post.
Warrington battled hard but looked poor in possession and the only trouble for Mark Thornley came from a Kevin Towey shot, which he saved well.
City have shown a worrying tendency to ease off the gas in the second half this season, however if anything they looked to get stronger on Saturday and they deservedly doubled their lead on 51 minutes through the in-form Mark Jackson.
Good work down the right by Lenny Reid, in his second game for the club, forced a corner. Reid proceeded to swing it in for Jackson to smartly volley home.
Despite a good deal of bluster from the home side the three points did not look at threat and City will look to build on that performance at Giant Axe on Saturday in a re-arranged game with Trafford.
Lancaster City: Thornley, Uberschar, Elderton, Heffernan, Marshall, Haddow, Reid, Ward, Foster, Jackson, Dodgson. Subs: Entwisle, Fildes, Helliwell, Greenwood, Price.

* LANCASTER City lost at home to Radcliffe Borough last Tuesday, Mark Jones scoring for the visitors in the first half.
City found the five-man Radcliffe defence hard to break down but they almost equalised when Ryan Elderton headed against the post.
The game saw a debut on the right wing for Lenny Reid, who has signed from Fleetwood.
