MARKING the launch of their new seven-inch EP, Lancaster's own The Lovely Eggs will play a rare gig at the Yorkshire House tomorrow (Thursday).
Released on Filthy Little Angels Records, the EP features three tracks –one of which has already been played by Radio One's Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens.
Joined at the Yorkie by East London band The Sexual Hot Bitches and Texas electronic pop duo Hyperbubble, The Lovely Eggs have had a hectic few months – travelling around and promoting the new record. "This will be the first time we have played Lancaster in a long while though." says the Lovely Eggs' Holly Blackwell, vocals and guitar.
"We're especially looking forward to the gig cos we haven't played there for ages and there are two really good bands coming up to play with us.
All the bands have released something on the Filthy Little Angels label so it's a bit of label showcase really. There are some moments of madness on our new record but we're keeping quiet about those." The duo, also featuring David Blackwell (also of Lancaster's 3DTanx), say they are thrilled to have their single 'I Like Birds But I Like Other Animals Too' played on Radio One.
"It feels flaming good actually." says Holly It's so nice to hear ourselves on a proper wireless that tunes in with an actual dial and everything."
Holly and David have a hectic few months ahead too. Next month alone they'll be jetting off to America for some shows.
"We'll be off there for quite some time," says Holly. "Hopefully we'll be flipping some eggs tunes to those yanky doodle doos and losing all our money in a desert casino. What fun."
