MORE Music is inviting you to sing, string and clap your way into the summer.
Classes such as the Hothouse Singers, guitar classes, the Seagull Cafe for the over 55s, Clapping Song for under 5s and the Orbit jazz band will make up the new season at The Hothouse in Morecambe.

New members are welcome at all the sessions.

C
lapping Song is More Music's singing, scraping, shaking and tapping session for under fives.

The group sing action songs, finger rhymes, songs with instruments and lullabies as well as experimenting with the many instruments found at More Music.

Over 40 children at The Sage, Gateshead, recently took part in the interactive workshop Clear Moon Quiet Water written at Clapping Song last year with story ideas, lyrics and tunes coming from children, parents and carers.

This term will give more opportunities to contribute to writing new songs and stories for a later performance.

Session times are 10am and 11am with juice, tea and biscuits included. Cost £1.50.

This term the ever energetic Orbit Jazz Workshop Band – a successful More Music performing group – are focussing their sights on playing tunes written by north west jazz stars.

Orbit runs on Saturday mornings from 10am – 1pm. Woodwind, brass, string, rhythm-section players and lead vocalists are invited to enjoy working up arrangements of classic jazz standards, contemporary pieces and sometimes composing new tunes together.

The Seagull Cafe is a social afternoon of lively entertainment, music and guests for the over 55s.

Join in with the music or just sit back and listen! Guests have ranged from a former circus performer to a euphonium player.

The sessions are on Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm.The £1.50 fee includes tea and cake.

The Hothouse Singers is an informal singing group which sing an eclectic range of music from around the world. They are now extending their repertoire to include hits old and new, requested by members. The group sings for enjoyment, rather than learning to sing, and teacher Anni Tracy predicts that anyone who comes along will find that singing really lifts their mood!

Singing is from 7pm to 9pm on Monday nights, cost £3. The group, which used to meet fortnightly, are now meeting weekly.

Guitar classes for anyone aged over 16, from the absolute beginner to the guitarist wanting to expand their skills, are free, from 7pm to 9pm on Mondays.

Call 01524 831997 for more information or just turn up for the session of your choice.
