"TONIGHT, Matthew, I'm going to be Tina Turner!"
That's what Morecambe sandwich shop worker Pauline Dawson might have said when she went through 'those doors' to undergo a startling transformation in front of a Lancaster audience.

Pauline, paying tribute to Tina Turner, was the winner of a 'Stars in Your Eyes'-style show recently at the Grand Theatre.

She dressed up as the legendary Tina – complete with massive wig – belted out 'Nutbush City Limits' and scooped the top prize of £100 in cash.

Pauline, who also sings with her daughter Nicola Conway in local pub duo 'Take Two', was delighted to be crowned 'Simply the Best' by a judging panel including top Robbie Williams impersonator JK.

"I went to see Tina Turner in March during her world tour as my 50th birthday present," said Pauline, who works in Sunflowers sandwich shop on Queen Street.

"I copy all her moves. I was a nervous wreck going on stage but the judges seemed to like it."

Pauline, of Altham Road, won the Grand's 'Stars In Disguise' event on October 25.

The live show, which raised £1,000 for the theatre's New Spaces Appeal, featured performances from kids and adults alike dressed as stars including Lily Allen and even Benny Hill!

Runner-up to Pauline in the adults section was Sandie Perrins as Kate Bush.

Winner of the under 16s section was Katy Hamilton as Tracey from 'Hairspray'. Runner-up was Hannah Riley as Amy Winehouse.

YOU can see Pauline and Nicola in action as Take Two, live at Ma Murphy's Irish pub in Morecambe on November 21.
