"MANY soul nights don't get past their first year, let alone four!" says a Morecambe soul music enthusiast celebrating the fourth birthday of his own regular soulful gatherings.
Sean O'Connor, one of the DJs and organisers at the Seaside Soul Club, is gearing up to mark the club's fourth anniversary with a night of soul music at Upstairs Downstairs in Morecambe this Saturday (November 24).

Sean and his colleagues at the Seaside Soul Club, one of the longest-running monthly soul nights in North Lancashire, have put the club firmly on the national map since its inception in 2003.

He makes regular guest appearances on satellite station Solar Radio (where he will be Shaun Robbins' special guest on December 16 from 10am and will soon debut his own show), Diversity Radio and various gigs around the country.

However, it really is a team effort at the club with everyone working hard to draw soul fans in and to ensure everything goes smoothly on the night.

The club has had a busy 2007, holding its first ever North Lancs Soul Festival in Morecambe last April and is planning the follow-up for April 25-27 next year.

Last month the club raised £500 for Breast Cancer Awareness and they would like to thank everyone who donated money and prizes on the night particularly Martyn Butlin at Heysham Power Stations, amongst many.

Special guest this Saturday will be Kendal-born DJ Roger Williams who designs album covers for noted record company Expansion Records and is one of the leading champions of new soul music in the country.

Roger will provide a free CD compiled and designed by himself to the first 30 through the door on the night.

The night starts at 8.30pm and runs until 1.30am. For more
