IT'S not just Glastonbury that is suffering ticket sales – a festival right on our doorstep has been cancelled due to financial issues.
The Forgotten Valley festival, which was due to welcome big names Happy Mondays, The Wombats, New Young Pony Club and Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong to the Lakes this May, has failed to sell enough tickets.

Event director, Rob Dumphy, said: "It is with great sadness that I am writing this.

"I have been working closely with our bank and investors to keep Forgotten Valley on the festival calendar this year. The current financial climate has not helped us and Forgotten Valley has to be cancelled."

Everybody that bought tickets, including local lottery tickets, can obtain a full refund from Ticketline; 0871 424 0047.

"I am personally devastated to give you this news but I will continue to work to produce an event for 2009," Rob continued.

Gig-goers in the area needn't worry though, Kendal Calling festival, taking place from August 1 to 3, with music from Dizzee Rascal, Super Furry Animals and more is still going ahead.
