Gordon Hendricks as Elvis, The Dome, Friday October 3
FANS at The Dome were all shook up by the man who, chances are, will be able to call himself the 'reigning Stars in Their Eyes winner' for many years to come.

Gordon Hendricks earns that right by virtue of his victory in the last (ever?) series of the show, in 2005.

It was his first time in the resort but, judging by the riotous response from a mixed age crowd ranging from a six-year-old lad to couples well into retirement age, it won't be his last.

Indeed, he seemed to appreciate the reaction and talked of a return a few times.

With Elvis tributes you never know what you're going to get.

Like your own memories of the great man himself, his imitators come in a range of sizes, ages and 'eras'.

Gordon's version is rooted firmly in the leather-clad, hip-shaking, lady-teasing format.

Indeed, as he was clearly not too abashed to inform us, he had once been told to 'cool it' at a 'World's Greatest Elvis' event when his 'thrusting' became a little too pronounced. There were no such restrictions at Morecambe, though, and his pelvic posings were given full throttle during his particularly energetic 'One Night With You' – even the blokes were mopping their brows.

Other great renditions on the night included a belting 'Burning Love', 'Don't Be Cruel' and a moving acoustic version of 'In the Ghetto'.

He saved my favourite 'Suspicious Minds' for a rousing encore that sent the decent-sized audience singing away into the cold night.

Another great tribute night at The Dome, with more to come.
