AS the countdown continues to The Dukes Theatre's summer production of Jason and the Argonauts in Williamson Park (starting tomorrow, July 2) the Lancaster venue has announced its indoor autumn line-up.
John Steinbeck's classic American tale 'Of Mice and Men' and a new Christmas adaptation of 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' will be brought to life at the Moor Lane theatre.

'Of Mice and Men' – one of the greatest works of American literature – will
run from September 24 to October 24.

This Christmas the Dukes will transport audiences to the Emerald City in an inventive and magical version of 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' produced in association with en masse theatre. The family performance runs from November 20 to January 2 2010.

Touring shows at the Dukes this autumn include 'Mixed Up North' – a fiercely funny and moving new play set in Burnley – from October 28 to 31.

Internationally acclaimed physical comedy company Spymonkey bring their hysterical version of 'Moby Dick' from November 5 to 7.

Another highlight is Live Theatre and The Empty Space's 'Motherland' (October 1 to 3) – a hard-hitting drama about women whose lives change when their men go to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On October 15 and 16, The Dukes celebrates the first ever female Poet Laureate with a performance of a new stage version of Carol Ann Duffy's collection, 'The World's Wife', performed by Linda Marlowe. And on September 11 and 12, 'God Bless the Child' tells the story of jazz singer Billie Holiday.

Comedy comes from Laurence Clark on September 6, Jason Manford on October 11, and Lancaster's own BBC radio presenter and comic Jon Richardson, on October 25.

Look out for Mitch Benn and his band on November 22, and on October 9 More Music presents 'Made in Morecambe'. There will also be shows for children and much more.

For more information on 'Jason and the Argonauts' or any of these other shows, or to book tickets, call The Dukes box office on 01524 598500 or visit www.dukes-lancaster.org
