MORECAMBE CC captain Mark Lomas was called by the South African coach Mickey Arthur at the weekend to confirm that Wayne Parnell will be lining up at Woodhill Lane this season.
Parnell was in the wickets over the weekend against Australia as, in only his second one-day international, the left-arm seamer took 4-28.
His form had led to doubts that Parnell would be travelling to England for the Northern League season but the South African authorities have confirmed the deal.
A club spokesman said: "The whole club is really excited to be having such a high-profile international player as our professional this season.
"We felt his recent good form might reduce our chance of him coming to play for us, but the South African Cricket Board are keen for him to experience English conditions and improve his game even further.
"Our professionals also get involved with the juniors so it will be an invaluable experience for them to learn from somebody so high profile, as well as those playing with him."
