Tradition is a load of bull

I AM writing to ask anyone visiting bullfighting countries – Spain, Portugal, France, Mexico and others – please to avoid the bullfights and street chases of the bulls.

Bullfighting causes so much suffering. It is extremely cruel and subjects bulls to slow, agonising deaths. Some people consider bullfighting a tradition, but that is not enough of a justification.

Public executions were once a tradition in England, but that would not justify their continued existence.

Also, many bullrings are subsidised by local governments, so tourists' money is being channelled into the industry, helping bullfighting to survive. Keeping away from towns and cities with active bullrings can help to stop this too.

Please help to put an end to this unnecessary suffering.
