A popular local man who brought a smiles to many faces as he rode his customised scooter has passed away at the age of 85.

Roy Lonsdale, who could often be seen riding his customised mobility scooter and trailer along Morecambe Promenade and through the street of the town, will be sadly missed.

Mike Fountain, who lives in Morecambe and was Eric Morecambe’s chauffeur, said: “Roy was seen in the summer months riding up and down the prom.

Thanks to Roy for bringing a smile to many people’s faces.”
