Work has started on the new pub-restaurant at the front of Morecambe’s FC’s Globe Arena home.

The diggers moved in last week on the site off Christie Way with the Marston’s Inns and Taverns pub expected to be complete by the end of April.

It is believed the pub will be called The Hurley Flyer, after Morecambe’s RNLI hovercraft. The Shrimps announced they had sold half the vacant plot of land at the front of their Westgate stadium to the independent pub company back in March.

The Wolverhampton-based chain own and operate around 500 pubs including the Bellflower at Garstang.
