Lancaster firm joins global giants in web test

AN award-winning Lancaster provider of network solutions joined Google, Facebook, Yahoo and a host of other leading companies in a global “test flight” of the internet’s new IP address system.

LUNS, which supplies network design, build and support services to a range of companies, was among 400 organisations trialling the new IPv6 website versions.

The ground-breaking global event tested and raised awareness of the move to IPv6 with the intention of accelerating its adoption internationally.

The new technology is gradually being introduced because the world is running out of older IPv4 addresses.

Everyone will have to make the change eventually and, although the transition is likely to take years, leaders in the field were keen to test the technology.

LUNS’ own site www.luns.net.uk is already available over IPv6 and the LUNS team are experts in future technologies.
