TAKING afternoon tea at one of Lancashire’s most reputable venues will help to protect wildlife in the county.

To mark the 50th anniversary of Lancashire Wildlife Trust, the prestigious Midland Hotel will be holding Big Buzz Tea Parties through September with 10 per cent of sales going to the Trust.

Trust members are being encouraged to hold their own Big Buzz Tea Party to help raise funds.

Matt Stanaway, general manager of The Midland, says: “The Midland is a truly iconic hotel.

“One of the most popular experiences people like to enjoy here is our fantastic traditional English afternoon tea.”

Cakes that have been made in the Big Bake-off will be judged at the hotel at 2pm on Saturday, July 28.

The winner of the competition will see their cake hand-crafted by the hotel’s acclaimed pastry chef and served to the hotel’s guests and diners.

They will also win a free stay at the hotel and there will be a runners-up prize of a baking lesson with the Midland’s pastry chef.

Tickets cost £10 of which half will be donated to Living Seas North West which campaigns to protect marine life and provides a marine education programme in the Morecambe Bay area.

The Midland was built in the 1930s, the art deco inspired Midland hotel helped to make the town fashionable attracting celebrity guests such as Coco Channel and Wallace Simpson.

The Midland overlooks the uninterrupted coastline of Morecambe Bay with views across to the Lake District.
