The resort’s Blockbuster store is set to close.

The Central Drive branch of the doomed DVD and video games rental chain is amongst 164 to be shut by administrators in the coming weeks.

All employees of the store, believed to be around five, are to be made redundant.

A closing down sale has begun and administrators Deloitte said outlets will remain open as usual with customers notified in advance of any closure so items can be returned.

Lee Manning, Joint Administrator, said: “We have continued to review the performance of individual stores since our appointment a month ago and have concluded that further closures are necessary in order to restructure the company for sale.

“We would like to thank the company’s employees for their support and professionalism during this difficult time and we are also grateful for the continued support of customers.

“We are in discussions with a number of parties interested in purchasing all or parts of the business and will update on progress in due course.”

The Blockbuster chain went into administration in the middle of January putting more than 4,000 jobs at risk nationwide.

Deloitte had already announced 150 stores were to shut as part of a phased closure.
