Lifeboat crew member runs for charity
Morecambe Lifeboat crew member Amy Roberts, who is taking part in The Great North Run to raise funds for the RNLI.
A member of Morecambe lifeboat crew will be taking part in The Great North Run to raise funds for the RNLI.
Amy Roberts, 20, has been on Morecambe Lifeboat Crew for three years and this will be her first half marathon.
She will be running along Ben Overfield, 21, of Hest Bank.
Amy said: “We all train very hard at the station so that we can provide the best rescue service possible to the people of Morecambe Bay, but without the public support and donations we are unable to do this.
“We rely greatly on our vessels, equipment and training to save lives at sea, so donations are vital to the charity.”
The Lifeboat crews put a lot of time and effort into the volunteer work they do.
The money raised by this event will go towards the kit, equipment and maintenance needed to run this volunteer charity.
The 13.5 mile run takes place in Newcastle on Sunday, September 16 and all money raised will be given to the Royal Nation Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
