Having a job doesn't work

I HAVE been repeatedly shocked over the last two weeks by the way I have been treated by the council and the Jobcentre now that I have returned to work.

I am not surprised some people make no effort at all to find a job!

I have been signed off by the Jobcentre and my housing benefit was ceased all within three days of me starting work. I had rent to pay on the December 12 and received no money, (I do not receive any money from my job until January).

When I visited the town hall I was told we would be eligible for an extended payment of housing benefit, which we were then told we would not receive because we had not been claiming Jobseekers Allowance for a constant period of 26 weeks.

We have found proof that the 'two week' period they say we were not in receipt of JSA was in fact a two-day period and was the fault of the Jobcentre not ourselves.

My fiance visited the Jobcentre to ask if they could help us in any way and was told 'now I am employed I'm nothing to do with them'.

I feel I am being punished for returning to work and I am maddened that I now have to pay taxes to a government that I feel doesn't actually support me at all.
