Gruelling challenge for teacher

A teacher at Morecambe Community High School showed his gratitude to two hospitals by taking part in a gruelling 15-hour cycle, kayak and run in the Lakes.

Patrick Wilson, friends and colleagues from the school raised £1,500 for Lancaster Royal Infirmary and Burnley General Hospital neonatal units, who helped his baby neice Shelley become fit and healthy after she was born premature.

The group biked from Kendal to Lake Windermere, then kayaked the lake, then scaled Scafell Pike before cycling back to Kendal.

He thanked Paul Aitken and Rachel Platt from the school’s outdoor education department, who supplied kit, equipment and the minibus.
