I agree with most people here, the transport via road is DIRE! Beyond that I am over in Bare, and Bare isn't that bad, but when you get into Morecambe town, its GRIM! Whilst we have no plans to do as Blackpool has done, we will stagnate!

we have a bus station were half the buses dont go to ie 2a go no were near it a taxi rank in the middle of nowhere as a pier rank mybe no one noticed the pier has gone .all bus should go to morrisons bus station .the taxi rank should be moved to there and then at night to queen street as thats were the people are.the the bus station would be a true transport hub for morecambe combining bus rail coach and taxi.just a small start.

Mr Heywood is very badly informed. neither the TERN project nor the Midland refurb were done with just private money, both involved public grant money. Cllr Sowden, I think, is refering to city council independents, while I was refering to morecambe town council independents who are all against the road and obviously seperate from those who sit alongside him in the city council chamber. I was also originally a western by-pass person, but am now pragmatically supporting as he says "the only one on offer", I'm pleased to hear he is also.

Fred Jowett makes a good set of comments then his final point is rubbish.....whatever the MBs think, the Independents are not against the present link road proposal. Only the LibDems originally favoured the northern route. The Greens and some Labour opposed all proposals. The rest preferred the western route, but were overriden by the one Labour deciding vote in County. I, as a Free Independent, now actively support the only route on offer, along with the majority of the Council.

I think it's good that the town council has decided to come out into the community to ask what people think. A suggestion, I believe, from one of their newest councillors. I can only hope people come and talk to them while they have the opportunity. on the points above: 1. there's no evidence whatsoever that morecambe has received less public money or council finance than lancaster. 2. the action plan is a bit of a rehash of previous one's, but that's because we can't attract enough private investment to get things moving. 3.the sea defences were as a result of a lot of european money, and the rats evidently are being encouraged by some people deliberately putting food on the rocks 4. urban splash did do up the midland, but with the help of about 8m of public money 5. the frontierland site is a disgrace but nobody will buy it or do it up because nobody wants to come because of a lack of access 6. the link road, key to all of the above, is opposed by MBI's and Independents because they've deluded themselves into thinking we can start all over again and apply for a western by-pass, they are simply wrong.

Once again good points contrived on both sides, but as my blood boils again, not form the heat in Australia but the lack of discipline or action from councillors I wonder why those on here who are willing to comment dont go one step further and stand for council, how about it Willie, Oldres, Hairydog etc ???? Stand up and be counted !!

Abject nonsense Mr Heywood. Morecambe receives more money in public funding than Lancaster. Projects include The Midland, the Prom improvements, Poulton neighbourhood, Happy Mount Park splash park, Morecambe Town Council, the Tern project and on it goes. The problem is that Morecambe receives substantially less in private sector funding. Why? Because of poor access (hopefully resolved by Link Road which MBI oppose) and in part by a confrontational minority based around the two ridiculous independence parties who've halted Morecambe's development not helped it.

I agree with Oldres, the number of people who tell me they're never going to Morecame again until something is done about the permanent traffic jam,at the bottleneck where three lanes change to one...at the automated crossing, It's idiotic! Any plans to improve Morecambe are pointless if people can't get in and out!

Haven't they been doing some action planstrategic planning etc I've seen similar items that go back to the 1990's and the council are still doing this, there has been no progress at all,(ok they spruced up the sea-ward side of the prom),just the rats to sort there now......a private comapny did up the Midland, the boarded up eyesore on the prom that was the fairground is still there after years and years, the winter gardens is still a mess,my god how many decades of planning has to be done,it's laughable really it is..
