Burst water main shuts college

A large tree root fractured a water main at Lancaster and Morecambe College.

Students and staff were sent home on Monday (October 1) and all evening classes were cancelled whilst repairs were made to the water main.

A spokesperson for Lancaster and Morecambe College said: “Students and staff were sent home at 11am as a precaution whilst repairs were being
made.

“The problem has now been resolved by the college’s estates team and all college provision is back to normal.”

United Utilities were at the scene to advise on Monday (October1) but the college has a private water network.

The college reopened as normal on Tuesday (October 2).
