PLANS to turn the Alhambra on Morecambe seafront into a new indoor market have been approved.
However, the owners will not be allowed to trade on the forecourt after problems in the past with other resort traders.

The prominent building on Marine Road West has had a variety of uses in the past, including a theatre upstairs.

But schoolkids will have one less arcade to lose their money in as councillors felt it had had its day as an arcade and said the new plans would fit in with the West End Strategy. Adult Gaming Centre Ltd, the applicant, plans to operate something similar to GB Antiques at Lancaster Leisure Park, and cited Bygone Times near Chorley as similar to their plans. The indoor market will be free for members of the public to visit and stalls would be leased to individual stall holders but managed by Adult Gaming. The plans were granted subject to an extra condition that there was to be no trading on the forecourt.
