IN the week Lancaster City Council's leader was sensationally voted out of office, a planning application has been received for a huge shopping development in the city.
Centros Miller this week formally submitted their outline plans for the old Mitchell's brewery site and adjacent land.

The controversial proposals are largely seen as the reason Coun Ian Barker was swept from power in favour of the Green Party at last week's elections.

Heron

The first application is for the redevelopment of the Heron Chemical Works on Moor Lane into between 55 and 68 new homes with car parking and landscaping.

The second application is for the redevelopment of the brewery site to the east of the Golden Lion into a building to house retail at ground-floor level with offices above and car parking.

Both applications can be viewed at Palatine Hall in Lancaster.
