More than 8,000 complaints were made by private residents about noise in Lancashire in the last year.
The figures show that 285 noise abatement notices were served by authorities across the county.

Lancashire councils confiscated equipment such as stereos, televisions and high performance speakers as a result of persistent noise pollution.

Noise has been cited in 13 cases as grounds for granting an Anti-Social Behaviour Order in Lancashire in the last 12 months.

The figures were discovered following information requests made by sound insulation experts Rockwool.
